Finally, the "beau mec" Karl returns home spent after the wild underground orgy, accompanied by a dismissive discussion of a former love. He strips in front of his mirror and masturbates. He worships himself, staring into his own eyes, breath fogging his reflection as he comes. He rides off on his motorcycle through the streets of Paris.
Forest himself is, in addition to starring and writing, credited as co-producer (along with director Wallace Potts, the former lover of ballet star Rudolf Nureyev). The film features gorgeous photography by Francois About (who sets the atmosphere and dynamically captures sex scenes), well-choreographed stage performances, and an excellent musical score.
